Windows Vienna, Future of Microsoft

Windows Vienna

Most of you ;) would be thinking what the hell is this new stuff about Windows Vienna going on. Well to tell you the truth I would say that Windows Vista is a twin sister of Windows Vienna only the difference being that Windows Vista is a premature baby of Microsoft daddy :D

Windows Vista has hardly been in the market till now and the talks for Windows Vienna are already on the show.

Giving a slight over view of Windows Vienna. Windows Vienna is a part of the Microsoft Windows Family and is the next Operating System in line after Windows Vista. Given below are some facts and news related to Windows Vienna that you may find interesting ;)

  • Windows Vienna, during its development process and BETA testing, was known as Blackcomb.
  • Windows Vienna, though scheduled to be released after Vista, was originally announced on February 2000 (Long before when Windows Vista was actually announced)
  • Blackcomb, The Codename for Windows Vienna, comes from the world's consistently rated #1 ski resort Whistler Blackcomb located in Whistler, British Columbia, Canda.
  • Sharing the qualities of its Premature Twin Sister (Windows Vista), Vienna has also been subject to major delays and rescheduling.
  • Blackcomb got its real name "Vienna" in January 2006.
  • Windows Vienna is targetted to be a Revolutionary Release (Bringing Real Innovation) however Windows Vista and all previous versions of Microsoft Windows have been Evolutionary Releases (Following Previous Trends).
  • There is no fix Release-Date announced for Windows Vienna yet, however it is planned to be released anywhere between 2009 to 2012.
  • We know that Windows Vista brought us only Re-Enhanced and Further-Modified features. However Vienna promises us to bring features that shall be purely new and unseen e.g. GroupBar replaced by Taskbar and Pie-Menu type circular Interface.
  • Lot of features originally planned for Windows Vista may become part of Windows Vienna.
  • Windows Vienna will be available both in 32-Bit and 64-Bit Editions for the Client Version.

Do comment If you find the Information new and interesting :D

  • Man where do you find all these??
  • Ahh :D You can say just a blend of some 'Internet Research' and 'Creative Writing' ;)
  • A very interesting read!
  • LOVE TO HEAR (or read :P ) THIS, FOR I'LL BE BUYING A NEW PC WHEN WHEN WINDOWS VIENNA WILL BE RELEASED!!! =D .. But are you sure that Windows Vienna will be available both in 32-Bit and 64-Bit Editions for the Client Version, because I saw on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vienna that it will only be available for 64-Bit Computers! I'd appreciate your reply, and thanks :)
  • lol first of all you can just calm down with the cap hehe.

Coming over to Vienna I would say that nothing is confirm yet. Windows Vista was delayed a year to its original release date so we can do nothing if Microsoft does the same for Vienna too.

Though the information about Vienna stated here is authentic but still I am not sure if Microsoft plans to change its decisions later on.
  • Hmmm, ok thanks :)
