Trust me it was just some days ago that I was thinking if there was some way to have different email accounts integrate all at one place so It would be easy to handle and manage multiple Email accounts and here my wish takes a form of reality with Google Mail Fetcher the new feature launched by Google Mail
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogle Rocks
Think about having four to five multiple email accounts and then think about the hassle of managing and fetching mail from each email account. There comes Google to the rescue, with the new Google Mail Fetcher technology Gmail allows you to fetch mail from your other, non-Gmail accounts. You’ll be able to read email from up to 5 additional accounts, all in one place, and take advantage of all of Gmail’s great features.
Here is how to use Google Mail Fetcher effectively :):
- Click Settings from the top of any Gmail page.
- Click Accounts.
- In the Get mail from other accounts section, click Add another mail account.
- Enter the full email address of the account you’d like to access, then click Next Step.
- Gmail will populate the Username and POP Server fields when possible, based on your email address. Enter your Password.
- Decide whether to:
- Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server. If you’ll only be accessing your email through your Gmail account, leave this unchecked. If you’d like to be able to access your mail directly from that account, or if you’re accessing it through any other accounts or devices, click to select this option.
- Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail.
- Label incoming messages. If you’d like to automatically label all messages that are retrieved from your non-Gmail account, select this option. You can choose to use the predefined label (your email address), or you can select an existing label or create a new one from the drop-down list.
- Archive incoming messages. Mail from this account can be archived directly, without showing up in your Inbox.
- Click Add Account.
- Once your account has been added successfully, you’ll have the option of setting it as a custom From address. This allows you to compose messages in Gmail, but have them appear to be sent from your other email account. Click Yes to set up a custom From address.
That it
Gmail will check your other accounts on a daily basis and will automatically add new mail to your Gmail account. To Disable Importing go to the Accounts tab of your Settings page and just click delete next to the appropriate email account and you are done
Note: Email accounts you would like to fetch will need to support POP access. Some free email services don’t support POP access at this time ![]()

wow man …this is a great thing . Never knew Gmail had this feature ..
I never knew about this before reading this post. I probably soon switch to google mail as my primary email instead of yahoo..
I’m having trouble to add yahoo and hotmail mails. Does anybody experience the same problem?
damn..I overlook the bottom part of the post
Yahoo wroks for me actually. so far its picked up 400 of my 5,000 something emails although i dont see them all yet i think it is because it may take a while to sync upand what not. but sof ar its working.
hi eches,
…bec, yahoo & hotmail does not have the pop mail facility, which is a must for downloading the mails directly to your computer etc.
I don’t see a way to adjust how often Fetcher will check my yahoo email account. It appears to check on an hourly basis which is too slow for me. I prefer 5 minute intervals.
I’ve set up “get mail from other accounts” and it works fine. Only snag is it won’t label and archive the incoming emails. Checked the settings box numerous times and tested it but they just appear in the inbox, not in the archive folder.
Any ideas?
