How To Make a Tag Cloud For Your Blog

Zoom Cloud

Hello everyone :) I am writing this little tutorial that will help everyone build a very nice looking Tag Cloud for their blog without using any special wordpress plugins and complex methods :D

For those who are new to the Web 2.0 world :D and need to know a little bit about what Tag Cloud really are? Here is a clue

Tag clouds are cool, informative, appealing representations about what’s happening in your blog, or anywhere else :D

I shall be taking use of the ZoomCloud service which is a free Tag Cloud making service for websites and blogs and uses your Feed data to make a very nice looking Tag Cloud ;)

To have a Tag Cloud for your site follow these steps:

  1. Sign up with ZoomCloud the free Tag Cloud service
  2. Follow the sign up details and fill in the required fields as instructed.
  3. The Tag Cloud configuration should take 1-2 minutes to accomplish.
  4. Sign in to your account and make a Tag cloud that matches the look of your blog/site accordingly. You can view the Live Demo here.
  5. Now simply Copy/Paste the javascript code of your Tag Cloud in your themes sidebar.php :) and you should have a sleek using Tag Cloud in seconds.

And you are done :D In seconds you have a dynamically updated Tag Cloud for your Blog :D Do share with the blogging community ;) and show off your blogging experience :)

It looks cool mate. Will try this and see whether it fits in blog or not.

This is simply a boon for those using Blogger and Typepad

One thing that haunts me is I cant see anyhow that the code generated for the Tag Cloud is XHTML 1.0 Valid :(

That is the reason I have removed the Tag Cloud from my blog until further research :)

make your own tag cloud…

I have just read the tutorial you commented about Shashank :) and it is for bloggers who use BlogSpot :D

We are mainly concerned about Wordpress here ;)

Wordpress Rocks :)

MakeCloud (http://www.makecloud.com) is a competitor to ZoomClouds. It differs in that there is no signup required, and it automatically takes on the format of whatever page it is embdedded in, so overall it takes very little time to add a MakeCloud cloud to any page.

I have been looking for an alternative to ZoomClouds for a long time and MakeCloud really seems one cool Tag Cloud Generator too. I will give it a try.
