Too bad the only other carrier you could use is TMobile. This is because the iPhone is GSM and only Cingular/AT&T and TMobile are GSM. So given the fact that TMobile sucks, why is this even useful?

For all those who think that what would be the use of Unlocking an iPhone is that there are a lot of features in iPhone which currently only run with AT&T.

Like the iPod in iPhone does not run without having an AT&T service and that simply sucks. Unlocking will enable you to use the iPod without AT&T service.

Then comes the problem of using the phone features. There are a lot of countries which support GSM services. Pakistan (my own dear country) has a wide network of GSM services. Just imagine if you could use an iPhone at your place when it is no even officially released there.

This software is one hell of a handy application.

So if the iphone is unlocked you can use it with any GSM provider such as Rogers? But then if the iphone is unlocked isnt the sim card still there from AT&T?

Well the article is misleading. Everyone thinks when someone says ACTIVATED or UNLOCKED IPHONE, they assume that the iPhone has been SIM UNLOCKED which isn’t true.

I have been keeping up with the Dev Team working on the SIM LOCK and they haven’t gotten anywhere. The only PARTIAL unlock there is available for the iPhone is the one where you can use ANY Cingular or ATT card in it. Thats what I have done, I’m just waiting for my prepaid SIM to come in from eBay.

The method above is the easiest way to unlock the phone. There are similar ones and they pretty much work the same. If you want the proper hacking utility, it is to manually go through it with a Mac and use terminal and the hacking software the dev team has made. It generates a valid token so you won’t keep getting “INCORRECT SIM CARD” or “PLEASE REACTIVATE THROUGH ITUNES”. For me info, just ask…

Though I have seen a lot videos till now on YouTube that really show iPhone being Hacked and used by service providers other than AT&T. I just hope that we can get a permanent working solution for it so I can share it with my readers and one-day use it on my own iPhone too.

There is the hack that allows you to use any Cingular card on the market but there are currently no SIM lock cracks available.

By the way, Do not update the iPhone software to v1.0.1… it has been known to destroy everything that has been previously done (all hacks and such)….just a heads up!

just got my iphone im in toronto canada and as soon as i sync it with my itunes it took me through the AT&T contract activation..so i ran this App and it worked took me to the menu settings..you need to first uninstall the latest version of itunes 7 install 3.0 ver then run the crack tool..then update to itunes 7! works perfect now if you could only get to unlock the service so i could use my rogers sim card! thanks guys!

How can I use an unlocked iphone on the gsm network if my old sim card won’t fit? Is it possible?

all gsm sim card should fit well atleast from north america. look at the angles it shud line up..i though i had the same issue but it fit ok.

Ali Its good to know that you have unlocked the iPhone but your service charges are insane. Dude someone can buy a brand new iPhone with 500 USD and when there are guides available on the Internet that help you unlock the iPhone for free then why would someone care spending 500 USD (30,000 PKR) for it?

There are already 10-20 genuine guides that I know of that can help you unlock an iPhone easily and they don’t charge you a cent for it.

I don’t see how there could be a “software” solution to unlocking the phone since it works on a GSM network. When I go to Europe with other phones (Palm, BB) I simply insert my UK Card into my unlocked phone. Since the casing of the Iphone is closed and cannot be opened I don’t see you could possibly change to another service provider when you are still using the original sim card.

hovibaby07 There is no global iPhone unlock solution available yet. The softwares that claim to unlock the iPhone work on a probability factor so all you can do is just try some random iPhone Unlock softwares and check to see if anyone really works for you.

No way to unlock the phone to use with multiple sims cards. If you’re paying this much money for a phone you should be able to use it with any service provider you want. Well here in Colombia they are unlocking the iPhones pretty easy and very cheap $25 dollars and there no problem with all the network here is GSM and it works excellent you should try this guys…will try to get more info to see how they are unlocking this baby.
