I feel very much excited right now because I am going to introduce my ever favorite wordpress plugin to you all. WordPress blogging platform is well known all around the blogosphere because of its Plugins feature which lets you spice up your blog and add new functionalities to it. Though there are thousands of free wordpress plugins available but some of them are simply irresistible and Live is one of them.

WordPress Live: Live Blog Statistics Plugin

Live is an amazing wordpress plugin that is more than a simple blog statistics plugin. This is your best time-killer and a tool through which you can track every single activity taking place on or around your blog. You can watch and scan through your blog activity in real time. This plugin will tell you everything like who your visitors are, where did they come from, which pages/posts they are surfing through, how much time did they spend on your blog and it will even let you watch live comments and feed hits.

WordPress Live Plugin Features

The best thing about this plugin is the style and manner in which it displays your blog’s current activity. It does not show any boring static stats rather it displays your blog activity in a dynamic style just like the Digg Spy. The hits scroll down slowly and smoothly and fade in and out with very sweet effects. The plugin tracks mainly 3 actions arounds your blog namely:

  • Page/Post Hits
  • Feed Hits
  • Comment Hits

There is also a graph included which tells you how much traffic your blog is getting over a period of time. This plugin is hell entertaining as well as informative as you can track your traffic source in real time and you can also track the IP address of your visitors.

Download WordPress Live

I recommend you to please download and try this plugin.

Caution

I just came to know that each hit that this plugin records is saved in your database and your database keeps on collecting the data and the database file size keeps on getting bigger and bigger. This can reduce the performance of your WordPress database. So remember to empty the data inside the wp_live_hits table every week if you want to keep your database healthy.

I’m using this plugin, and it’s a lot of fun to watch those stats ticking down. :D

I’ve been using this plugin for a few months. Fun watching the live hits. I mostly use Reinvigorate’s Snoop though. It’s basically the same thing but it’s a standalone app.

I usually use google analytics, I downloaded this one to give it a try since it would be nice to see statistics right inside my control panel.

Dave Basically Google analytics is a very good stats tool but it works in passive mode

The good feature about Live is that it is an active stats tool. You should try running both at same time like I do and you won’t face any problem at all.

I have been using this plugin for a while, and I think it is a must-have for every WordPress user.

And LOL DJ, most of your traffic comes from Google. Very nice.

Thanks for the tip off on this plugin. I gave it a whirl and I like it. I don’t like the lack of documentation. Thats about all thats missing.

It didn’t work for me some reason. Now I have to clean the mess it left behind in my database. It should have an installer attached, so please make one. And please, somehow plz do not use database only for watching traffic and not delete the record. I found this one explain how Live took down his server: http://www.macuha.com/2007/06/wordpress/this-blog-pwned-my-web-hosts-server/

Let’s take a look. Anyone do know a plugin which shows statistics about the javascript settings of my visitors? Would be a nice feature, I would be glad if you could such a feature to your plugin :)
