Finally the new beta version of our favorite blogging platform is here. I have been noticing that the development of Wordpress is going fast this year and we are seeing the release of new versions soon enough. The new beta version of Wordpress brings along a lot of new features and stuff which are meant to enhance your blogging experience in a dynamic manner.
Wordpress 2.3 Beta 1 Features
Some of the new features include
- Plugin and core update notification
- Built in tags support
- Faster javascript
- SEO-friendly URL Redirection
The built in tags support feature is really giving me the freaks as I assume it will conflict with UTW which is the source of my gigantic SEO for this blog. However the rest of the features seem cool. The new functionality is still very rough, so only test the beta if you are comfortable troubleshooting PHP issues, filing tickets, and backing up your data religiously.

I’m glad there will be an upgrade, though it will be a while till I move up to it. I don’t want my plugins to break.
I’m so not enlightened on how tags work. Anybody care to share their 2 cents on tags?
Oh well the main reason the new version is giving me the creeps is because I fear my UTW plugin (which I am using currently for tags) will have a conflict with the core tags of Wordpress 2.3 and this is definitely a bad news
Tags are actually keywords that generate user-defined categories and are used to couple up posts that relate to same topic.
