Despite being one of the biggest online advertising networks, Google Adsense did not take any suitable measures to maintain publisher privacy and safety until now. Everyone is aware of the fact that Google Adsense does not use any site ownership checks to prevent a publisher's adsense ID from being abused on some other site but a new feature implementation will now ensure the safety of publishers and will allow them to display ads only on the sites of their own choice.
Restrict Google Ads To Allowed Sites Only
The new feature is called as the Publisher Whitelist. You can find the Publisher Whitelist once you log in to your Google Adsense account and navigate to Adsense Setup -> Allowed Sites. Here you can choose either to display your ads on all sites or restrict them to some particular sites which you will enter yourself in the list. If you are going to use this feature then make sure you enter the URLs of all the sites where your ads are being displayed e.g. Forums, Revenue Sharing Platforms etc.
Pros and Cons of Publisher Whitelist
Definitely this new feature in Google Adsense can prevent publisher identity abuse and can help them in maintaining privacy and security of their Google Adsense accounts but at the same time it can be a revenue killer as many people would not be able to see your ads who are accessing your site from indirect sources like Google cache or Internet proxy sites. So are you going to use this feature on your blog or is it again some not-so-happening Google news for you?
