Thats true! soon after the release of the Windows Live Installer now Microsoft is shooting up for bigger and better services. Google has always ruled the web with its different online and free to use web services and Microsoft has always been considered as the desktop king but now it looks like Microsoft is targeting various online Google services and is trying to compete against them. LiveSide reports that Microsoft has now released another new online free web based service that will compete with Google Translate.

Windows Live Translator: Free Online Translation Service

Windows Live Translator is new free online web based translation service recently launched by Microsoft that will now compete with Google Translate and the famous BabelFish translation service by AltaVista. Windows Live Translator Beta is powered by Systran. It looks like Microsoft is now trying to expand itself in the Internet market but only time will tell if it is for the good or for the worse.

Pros and Cons

The service seems cool and fine and works like any other translator. The best feature of this service is the ability to see the translated web page in four different layouts ranging from side by side to hover text but the home page of the service is too dead simple and may confuse a newbie.

Other demerits of the service include the slow processing speed which is 2x times slower to that of Google Translate and BabelFish and also some of the language translations do not even work.

The service is till in Beta and we hope Microsoft rolls out some improvements and upgrades to make the service better.
