Back in June, Google acquired Zenter which is a company that provides software for creating online slide presentations. This was a good news for all Google Docs users as they knew soon Google would be adding online slide presentation features to the Google Docs family and finally after a time of 3 months we see that Google Presentations has come to reality.
Make Online Presentations with Google Presentations
Google Presentations is the new online product that has been introduced to the Google Docs and Spreadsheets family. Google Presentations has been designed specifically to help you make your work more productive and you can also collaborate with your friends or coworkers while working on a project presentation. Google Presentations will allow you to make online presentations and will also enable you to save them securely on the Internet so you can access your presentations virtually from anywhere around the world.

Google Presentations Features and Overview
Google Presentations can be accessed directly through this link which will automatically create a new presentation or you can just log in to Google Docs with your Google account and click New > Presentation to start a new presentation. The good thing is that you can also upload a PowerPoint Presentation (.ppt) and edit it online.
For now what I can see is that Google Presentations is a little too far from competing with PowerPoint as the features are very limited. The most basic functions you can perform using Google Presentations are:
- New Slide
- Duplicate Slide
- Delete Slide
- Insert Image
- Insert Text
- Change Theme
Currently there are only 15 Presentations templates available and you can not even upload or make custom ones. Plus the “Transition Effects” feature is still missing which is very essential for creating spicy presentations but I hope soon we will get a flavor of that too.
Rest of the features are quite basic and easy to us. Google Presentations is a good new startup by Google but it still has a long long way to go.

Nice news
Of course that is a good news
I think lots of people will now switch from Microsoft PowerPoint to Google Presentations as it is more collaborative and also free to use.
