Windows Live Search Gets a Smooth new Design

Do you remember the Battle of the Beauties? Oh well I am not talking about some fashion or beauty contest here rather I am referring to the "homepage redesign" craze that was previously adopted by Yahoo! and Google and both of the search engine daddies gave a new look to their respective search engines. It seems that another search engine daddy has joined the battle too and we are finally going to see a new design of Windows Live Search.


Windows Live Search Gets a new Design

Windows Live Search has finally redesigned its homepage with a new smooth and sexy layout. The new design is unique in the sense that it does not follow the "Windows Live Ideas" color scheme which is basically blue and glossy rather the new home page layout gives a more relaxing and smooth sensation.

Other new things you will notice in the new design is a link to Windows Live Video Search in the search menu bar which was previously not present there and of course there is a link to Windows Live Translator in the Options menu. Even the Windows Live Installer gets a link on the home page of Windows Live Search now.

Don't you think that new design looks quite more freshening and smooth than the previous one? If you say Yes then I will say "Microsoft, Job well done!" ;)

  • Hmm, I still seem to be seeing the old version.

    The new one looks great though! I have found Live search to be too cluttered before. I hope they changed that.
  • I think they are still rolling out the update so soon the new layout will be available globally. For me the old layout was also very cluttered and unattractive but with this new design Microsoft may take a large number of Internet audience in their confidence.

  • yeah DJ it seems like Microsoft is sharping their spears to go against their competitors like Google. I tried Windows Live writer and kind of suck maybe you could write a nice review about it to understand it Better, cause I didn't play enough with it probably.
  • It certainly is sexy, especially compared to before. But who knows if it will still function better than Google? I am getting a few searches in my stats from live, so maybe they are gaining their fair shared. Plus some people that hate google will probably go there.
  • Nelson I really don't like Windows Live Writer much but I will give a review as soon the new version of Windows Live Writer comes to the surface. Probably it will have some new features.

    GnomeyNewt I agree with you. Not everyone is a Google fan. Live search is not as popular as Google or Yahoo Search but is still ranked 3rd world wide. I guess the new design will help Microsoft get some more loyal users to their Search technology.
