Google is determined to slap every publisher and advertiser who takes part in any sort of paid link activities and tries to manipulate the Google Pagerank technology but perhaps Google’s hunt doesn’t end here. Google is now even targeting the publishers and advertisers of companies like Text Link Ads and PayPerPost which offer online text link advertising and paid reviews services respectively.
Payperpost CEO Ted Murphy is claiming that Google is going after bloggers in the PayPerPost network and reducing their PageRank from whatever they previously had to zero.
Here is what he has to say about this:
It is no coincidence that Google has gone after some blogs that utilize PayPerPost and many of our competitors services. We offer a very attractive alternative to AdSense and are leading a charge to provide real monetization for everyday bloggers. Unlike the Google AdSense black box, we are palms up when it comes to revenue share and give bloggers the lions share of advertising dollars that they deserve.
It is really sad to see how far Google is going to protect their pure Pagerank technology. However they should not at least pose a threat to other online advertising programs e.g. text link ads and paid reviews but you know what they say As long as you have power you can do anything
Probably thats what Google is doing. Thanks to JohnChow for bringing this news to the surface.

Seems like Google is moving away from being just a search engine into becoming an Internet mob king pin. If you use something to help your site (paid text ads/pay per post) then you want have their “protection” (page rank) crippling your website. Or so they’d like you to think that your site would be crippled.
I say heck with page rank. Focus on getting in the other search engines and getting ranked higher on them. If Google wants to play games with our websites and revenue. Let them. It’s just like on the playground in school. The kid who doesn’t want to play fair will lose out because no one will want to play with them. If you are one of those that had their page rank knocked down, take your money out of ad words ( if you have been using that ) and send it somewhere else.
It’s one thing to change search logarithms to get better search results, it’s something totally different to penalize people for using another service besides adwords. I can see an anti-trust lawsuit in Google’s future. Just like Microsoft.
The only reason most bloggers and publishers gave up paid links and surrendered in front of Google is that Google is the next generation company online. You simply can not think of surviving on the Internet if your websites are in Google’s bad books.
No one wants to lose traffic from the world’s top 1 search engine. To tell you the truth we are just helpless and we have no choice but to show the white flag. Google is the king of the web and everyone knows it. No one dares to go against it unless he/she has some good resources.
This has been known for some time. Google is known to look up market places of TLA, SReviews, ReviewMe etc. This is just the surface.
I’ve already removed my blog from these services - the money is not worth risking the Google traffic (they’d remove sites from SERPs next, I wager)
And be careful talking about paid stuff
Google bots may be just scanning those words. Oh, damn, Google has infused paranoia to people like me.
Let’s face it folks, it might just come down to having “normal” people link to our sites and creating original content…lol
While I don’t enjoy the hoops that I have to jump through to get listed or ranked, I appreciate the entire self sustaining market that Google has created for SEO.
Besides, ultimately, normal people don’t care. Just us.
Sumesh I agree with you. Google means “reliable long term traffic and revenue” and you simply cannot put Google behind your back and go with these little unreliable services like PayPerPost or Text Link Ads.
See I was lucky enough to get my Pagerank back too.
Google is evil after all.
Calling Google evil is perhaps not right.
Yes they are being over protective about fair use of Google Pagerank but after all possessiveness is never synonymous to evilness.
Hey, I agree to a stand with google, I mean think about it this way, Microsoft Shut down sites that damage the company’s outlook with msn , any site that trys to damage a company or alter its code, is wrong. I mean heck, if people feel google is in the wrong for what they are doing, why do they cheer, when some sports agency stops a drug using sport star? they altered the make of their body to better their stats.
No different imo
Exactly my point. I am glad to know that there still exist people who have faith in Google and support it in every possible way.
Google, imo is only going one direction up.
Yeah so they do things that ruffle people’s feathers good for them, They are not looking at it in 1 point of view but millions.
So you want to earn money? why not offer services such as designs and what not. Text links, payperpost seriously how many people really care to read what your being paid to say? Google is the new wave of the internet get behind it or get lost
Hey! why does Google hate PayPerPost…what is in PayPerPost that Google don’t want?
Google does not want link marketing over the Internet as it affects Google’s Pagerank technology.
PayPerPost is the company which highly promotes practice of link marketing through sponsored reviews. Google does not like it so Google hates PayPerPost.
Uh oh. How do I remove the PPP and Social Spark codes from my blog’s html? I’d forgotten where I put them! And I don’t want to lose my blog or my rank!
Sorry guys, I’m kinda lost. How do i end my association with textlink ads?
Then after that, does it mean that I have to start building up my page rank from scratch again?
By the way feel free to suggest on what else I should do to improve my website page ranking.
Thanks for any advice.
