Later yesterday Google announced that it will soon be launching a new service/tool for worldwide users called Google Knol . Later Google gisteren aangekondigd dat zij binnenkort een nieuwe dienst lanceren / instrument voor wereldwijde gebruikers genaamd Google Knol. Basically the key concept is to create a free open-source encyclopedia (Just like Wikipedia ) where people can come and write about any topic. In principe is het sleutelbegrip is het creëren van een gratis open-source encyclopedie (Net zoals Wikipedia) waar mensen kunnen komen en schrijven over een onderwerp. Google wants a tool that is somewhat a cross of Wikipedia and Social Networks. Google wil een instrument dat enigszins is een kruis van Wikipedia en sociale netwerken.

Knol , which basically stands for a unit of knowledge, is still in development and this is just the first phase of testing. Knol, die in feite staat voor een eenheid van kennis, is nog in ontwikkeling en dit is slechts de eerste fase van het testen. For now only selected group of beta testers can use this service but it will soon be available to the worldwide users for free. Voor nu alleen geselecteerde groep van beta testers kunnen deze dienst gebruik maken, maar het zal binnenkort beschikbaar zijn voor de wereldwijde gebruikers gratis.

Google will provide easy-to-use tools for writing, editing, and so on, and it will provide free hosting of the content. Google biedt eenvoudig te gebruiken tools voor het schrijven, bewerken en zo verder, en het zal gratis hosting van de inhoud. Authors can write about any topic they want to and each topic shall be called a Knol . Auteurs kunnen schrijven over welk onderwerp zij willen en elk onderwerp wordt genoemd Knol.

Google Knol will be a free open-source encyclopedia plus it will include strong community tools where users will be able to submit comments, questions, edits, additional content, rate knols and so on. Google Knol is een gratis open-source encyclopedie plus het zal een sterke community hulpmiddelen waar gebruikers kunnen opmerkingen, vragen, bewerkingen, extra content, rate Knols en zo verder in te dienen.

Google Knol will not just be a free open source knowledge social network rather it will be a revenue sharing open source social network where authors of each knol will be given a substantial revenue share from the proceedings of ads on that particular knol. Google Knol zal niet alleen een gratis open source kennis sociale netwerk eerder zal het een het delen van inkomsten open source sociale netwerk indien de auteurs van elke knol krijgt een aanzienlijke inkomsten aandeel uit de werkzaamheden van advertenties op die specifieke knol.

While most of the critics think that Google Knol will be a big competitor to Wikipedia, I say different. Terwijl de meeste van de critici denken dat Google Knol zal een grote concurrent voor Wikipedia zijn, zeg ik anders. I think Google Knol will be more like a social network with free knowledge sharing whereas Wikipedia is a just a encyclopedia which offers you free straight-to-the-point knowledge and does not allow you to discuss, question, comment on articles. Ik denk dat Google Knol zal meer als een sociaal netwerk met vrij delen van kennis terwijl Wikipedia is een encyclopedie die slechts een biedt u gratis straight-to-the-point kennis en niet in staat u te bespreken, vraag, reageren op artikelen.

Google Knol, being a Google child, will definitely win the card over Wikipedia in SERPs but Wikipedia, being the free knowledge God, shall always rule.
