Nokia 888, Bracelet-Like Concept Phone

nokia888.jpg

If we take a look at today's mobile market we realize that the mobile industry is revolutionizing with a big pace and motion. Now a days we get to see new phones and gadgets which were once just a dream and concept. Tamer Nakisci (Indusrtial Designer) introduced the Nokia 888 Bracelet-like Concept Phone in 2005 which won the Benelux design contest in 2005.

The idea was to have a mobile phone that is light-weight, fun to carry and easy and flexible to use. It is targeted to the young consumers who are likely to be active and take place in a lot of different activities because they move and change place too much. They do a lot of different things during the day.

The concept phone uses liquid battery, speech recognition, flexible touch screen, touch sensitive body cover which lets it understand and adjust to the environment. It has a simple programmable body mechanism so that it changes forms in different situations. It uses the e-motions (electronical motions) technology which allows the phone to turn into any flexible form representing a mood or environment.

Take a look at this YouTube video that will show you how the actual product will function (If there is ever any)

    Loved the concept.
    How compact it is…mind blowing!
I wish to buy one if it will ever come into the market but i think that this will be minimum 10 or more times costly than iPhone :(

  • Brown Baron says:

Very nice! I hope they actually build it.

  • Keshav Khera says:

Oh My God! That made me burst into laughter when the phone was moving up and down…wake up wake up. The concept is great but the question is that when will it arrive here in South Asia and what will it cost.

But the video was great :D

Great concept! Can’t imagine if the product comes true

  • Dj Flush says:

Guys please come to the world of reality. This phone is not coming into existence for at least next 10 years to come. This is what I assume.

    Re: DJ Flush
NEC Tag and Extravagance are already on the way. There are flexible batteries 0.3mm in production products now. OLED flat screens are here. Intel Silverthorn is here and SDHC can hold 32GB. Nokia 888 is not a mater of inventing, It is a matter of putting it together and programing it.

  • Dj Flush says:

I will have to agree with you on that one. Lets wait and see if Nokia really has plans to launch this phone.

  • Jethro says:

OK maybe its not just putting it together and programing it. There are still some issues with making OLED flexible and getting blue to last. It might not be called Nokia 888 and it might not look like Nokia 888 it might not have all the features of the Nokia 888 and Nokia might not Evan be the first to make a flexible phone. Sometime 2011-2016 its gotta happen. Anyways, Intels working on it. Check out there website.

    The girl is uber hot.

Nokia, it would not have to be as flexible as the concept 888 to be super hot. People would sit on, fall on, make out while wearing, the flexi concept, and fold (crease) the thing beyond repair. Just make us an unlocked, multi-provider phone under $500 with the same electronic features, sans calisthenics, with a great camera and you’re in. Also, please do not allow Verizon to dumb-down/lock-out all the worthwhile features. Thanks!
