iPod-spotlight.jpg iPod Touch is one brilliant piece of gadget from the iPhone family that has every feature of the iPhone except for the phone and camera. iPod Touch is een briljant stukje van de iPhone gadget familie die elke functie van de iPhone, met uitzondering van de telefoon en de camera heeft.

I will be getting an iPod Touch soon (most probably in the coming week) so I was doing some research about installing different applications on my iPod Touch and luckily I found a bunch of tips and tricks and some hacks that might come in handy to other iPod Touch owners. Ik zal het krijgen van een iPod Touch binnenkort (waarschijnlijk in de komende week), dus ik deed wat onderzoek over het installeren van verschillende toepassingen op mijn iPod Touch en gelukkig vond ik een heleboel tips en trucs en een aantal hacks die van pas kunnen komen aan andere iPod Touch bezitters.

Plus I shall also be discussing in one of my coming posts that why buying an iPod Touch is ten times better than buying an unlocked iPhone. Install iPhone apps on iPod Touch Installeer iPhone apps op de iPod Touch

The process is really simple and assumes that you have a jailbroken iPod Touch. Het proces is heel eenvoudig en gaat ervan uit dat u een jailbroken iPod Touch. Jailbroken iPod Touch have the ability to install 3rd party applications. Jailbroken iPod Touch hebben de mogelijkheid om 3rd party applicaties te installeren. If your iPod Touch is not jailbroken already, please wait for my post about how to jailbreak an iPod Touch that I would be publishing soon after this. Now to get the iPhone apps on your iPod Touch, just follow these steps: Nu om de iPhone apps op je iPod Touch, gaat u als volgt te werk:

  1. Open install.app (installer application) from the home menu of your iPod Touch and tap "sources" on the bottom menu. Open install.app (installatieprogramma) uit het hoofdmenu van uw iPod Touch en tik op "bronnen" op de onderste menu.
  2. Tap edit and then tap add. Tik op Bewerken en vervolgens op toe te voegen.
  3. In the "Add Source" field type in http://repo.us.to "http://applerepo.com" or "http://ipodtouchmaster.com/files/repo.xml" and tap OK. In het "Add Source" veldtype in http://repo.us.to "http://applerepo.com" of "http://ipodtouchmaster.com/files/repo.xml" en tik op OK.
  4. Tap done and then tap refresh. Tik gedaan en vervolgens op vernieuwen.
  5. Tap "Install" on the bottom menu of the Installer and scroll down with your finger until you see "iPhone 1.1.1 Apps for iPod Touch" and "iPhone 1.1.2 Apps for iPod Touch". Tik op "Installeren" op de onderste menu van het installatieprogramma en naar beneden scrollen met je vinger tot je "iPhone 1.1.1 Apps voor de iPod Touch" en "iPhone 1.1.2 Apps for iPod Touch". Tap the folder corresponding your iPod Touch firmware version. Tik op de map overeenkomstige uw iPod Touch firmware versie.
  6. Once on the iPhone apps menu, Install the "Prep" packages before you install anything else. Eenmaal op de iPhone apps menu Installeer de "Prep" pakketten voordat je iets anders installeren. Once you've installed these then you can continue to install the rest of the iPhone apps onto your Touch. Zodra u deze hebt geïnstalleerd dan kun je verder met de rest van de iPhone apps installeren op je Touch.
  7. After you've installed all of the iPhone packages/apps, then press the home button on your iPod so that it can reboot. Nadat u hebt geïnstalleerd alle pakketten van de iPhone / apps, druk op de Home-knop op je iPod, zodat het kan herstarten.

Thats it! Thats it! You now have your iPhone applications on your iPod Touch. U hebt nu uw iPhone applicaties op uw iPod Touch.

    what else was iPhone supposed to be other than being primarily a phone? Wat anders is de iPhone zou moeten zijn anders dan die in de eerste plaats een telefoon?
  • Probably you didn't get my point. Waarschijnlijk heb je niet mijn punt.

    What I wanted to say through that sentence was that its better for people to buy an iPod Touch than buying an unlocked or hacked iPhone. Wat ik wilde zeggen door die zin was dat haar beter is voor mensen een iPod Touch te kopen dan het kopen van een ontgrendeld of een gehackte iPhone.

    i agree. I agree. if you already have a cellphone, then why should u get an expensive iphone, when u can get an ipod touch? Als u al een mobiele telefoon hebben, dan krijgen waarom zou u een dure iPhone, wanneer u kunt een iPod touch? that's what i did. Dat is wat ik deed.

    I want to know if its the right way to jailbreak? Ik wil weten of het de juiste manier om jailbreak?

    I don't have that Installer application on my iPod Touch; it's less then a week old and it seems everything (such as the iPhone apps) begins from this installer application I do not have. Ik doe dat Installer-applicatie niet op mijn iPod Touch, het is minder dan een week oud en het lijkt alles (zoals de iPhone apps) begint vanaf deze installatieprogramma heb ik niet.     There isn'ta mail app for 1.1.1 but there is the prep. Er is geen mail app voor 1.1.1, maar er is de prep. The other way is to transfer a copy from my computer which I have but I don't know how to work winSCP.     By the way to get iPhone apps on your iPod Touch you need to hack/jailbreak your iPod Touch. Door de manier om iPhone apps op de iPod Touch moet je hack / jailbreak je iPod Touch. To do this either go onto YouTube and type in jailbreak or more easily go to Om dit te doen ofwel gaan naar YouTube en typ jailbreak of meer makkelijk naar jailbreakme.com jailbreakme.com on your Safari Browser and scroll to the bottom and click install apps or something :D op uw Safari browser en ga naar onderen en klik op apps installeren of iets: D

    I have followed all of the steps above ie gone into sources and added Ik heb na alle bovenstaande stappen dwz gegaan bronnen en de toegevoegde http://repo.us.to http://repo.us.to (several times) and the iPhone apps are not showing up in "install". (meerdere malen) en de iPhone apps niet worden weergegeven in de "Install". I did this a week ago with no problem, but had to exchange my device due to battery life problems. Ik deed dit een week geleden met geen probleem, maar had op mijn toestel als gevolg van problemen levensduur van de batterij te wisselen.

    Any ideas what is happening, could these apps have been "pulled"? Enig idee wat er gebeurt, kunnen deze apps zijn "getrokken"?

    The mail app said that you should only download or install if you have an iPhone. De mail app gezegd dat je alleen moet downloaden of te installeren als u een iPhone hebt. Can you still install it with an ipod Touch? Kun je nog installeren met een iPod Touch?

    Caution: when installer is loading, don't exit out. Let op: wanneer installer geladen wordt, hoeft afrit niet uit. You may think it is frozen, but its not ;) U denkt misschien dat het is bevroren, maar het niet;)

    Dave, I've installed the allipodhax source but I don't see the new packages, not in recent packages, not anywhere...You sure it's working?     Yup. Yup. Sad to say that there is no source for the Iphone apps. Triest om te zeggen dat er geen bron voor de iPhone apps. None that I could find. Niet dat ik kon vinden. I suppose you could do it the old way and SSH them in, but that takes FOREVER and is a real PITA. Ik veronderstel dat je zou kunnen doen is de oude manier en SSH hen in, maar dat neemt FOREVER en is een echte PITA. Sorry to burst your bubble. Sorry dat ik je zeepbel uiteenspatten. You could use one of the 1.1.3 jailbreak methods. Je kan een van de 1.1.3 jailbreak-methoden. I think the source for the 1.1.3 apps are still up.     Ok...i no what i am doing...you can only go to the website ( Ok ... ik niet wat ik doe ... kunt u alleen naar de website ( www.jailbreakme.com www.jailbreakme.com ) if u have firmware 1.1.1 if not you have to go to YouTube to do it. ) Indien u zijn firmware 1.1.1 als je niet naar YouTube te gaan om het te doen. You can also downgrade to 1.1.1 because that is the easiest thing to do. U kunt ook downgrade naar 1.1.1, want dat is de makkelijkste om te doen.

    What are you talking about? Waar heb je het over? SSHing them in takes 10 minutes, tops. SSHing ze in 10 minuten, topjes. Just SSH in, drag and drop the apps into Applications, and the frameworks and preference files. Net SSH, slepen en neerzetten de apps in toepassingen, en de kaders en de voorkeur van bestanden. Simple. Simple.

    My iPod touch is already jailbroken with firmware 1.1.1 but for some reason when I download something off of the installer it wont work. Mijn iPod touch is al jailbroken met firmware 1.1.1, maar om wat voor reden als ik iets download off van de installateur het gewoon werk. It will just close as its updating. Het zal net dicht als het bijwerken. I never used to have this problem. Ik heb nog nooit gebruikt te hebben van dit probleem. I cant even get any apps anymore as the installer app just shuts down. I cant krijg zelfs geen apps meer als de installer app gewoon afgesloten. Usually, I would have to slide to unlock but now nothing works! Gewoonlijk zou ik schuif te openen, maar nu niets werkt!

  • If you have a lot of applications try symlinking them with BossTool. Als u veel toepassingen hebben proberen symlinking ze met BossTool.

    So with the new SDK that came out, should I not jailbreak my itouch and wait for 3rd party apps on the internet? Dus met de nieuwe SDK dat kwam uit zou ik niet mijn itouch jailbreak en wachten tot 3rd party apps op het internet? Does anyone know where I can get some of these apps from SDK users so that I don't have to jailbreak my new itouch? Weet iemand waar ik een aantal van deze apps uit SDK, zodat gebruikers kunnen krijgen dat ik niet heb op mijn nieuwe itouch jailbreak?

    You cant hack the iPod Touch to be used as a phone because the iPod doesn't have a microphone. U cant hack de iPod Touch te worden gebruikt als een telefoon, omdat de iPod niet over een microfoon.
