Vista Codec Pack for Windows Media Player

Basically the biggest problem faced by an average computer user is to find suitable Codecs for Windows Media Player when one is unable to run or play a media file of certain extension. Windows Media Player by default can only play a limited type of audio/video files (WMA, MP3, WMV, ASF, MPEG etc) and to play other type of media files (MP4, 3GP, MOV etc) you need to either download a separate media player or find suitable codec packages for Windows Media Player.

Vista Codec Package is a set of Codecs which can run almost with any type of media player (Windows Media Player most preferably) and can play DVD’s, movies and video clips of almost any filetype. It does not contain a media player and it doesn’t associates filetypes means you can use it with as much diversity as you want.

The best feature of this package is that it can be used by Windows XP users too (don’t be confused by the “Vista” in the utility’s name) and it also supports Streaming auido/video in all popular web browsers. This package is meant for the average computer user so it comes equipped with all the necessary settings and tweaks so you don’t need to do anything after installing it.

Note: While installing you experience 7-Zip: Internal error, rightclick the downloaded file and from the dropdown list choose ‘Run as administrator’

A big feature for me is that it enables support for the thumbnails of the FLV files in the windows explorer (as you know Windows not natively support thumbnails of FLV files). I have not seen this feature in any other codec pack so far.

Hi, lol where is the download link?

Thanks, I’ve been looking for something like this, I installed the k-lite codec pack but still have an issue with FLV files.

Color me stupid, but I don’t see a link in your article, could you point me in the right direction?

Thank you,
Dan

Pardon me! I forgot to include the related link. Here you go:
