Yes, it's here. The so-called latest domain name suffix .Asia is finally up for grabs. I believe this is might be a step to charm all the Asians? I personally think that DotAsia can be a big hit to attract a HUGE audience as the national prefix's for different countries like .pk (Pakistan), .in (India), etc did get popular.
One of the concerns that the brands might have is that they have to protect their names too. DotAsia project began in year 2000 and the DotAsia organization had to complete it in late 2006 which is overdue anyway.
Some companies did had this information and they started registering their brand names but for those who haven't, it's time to act now! as it's been opened to everyone and as almost everyone in the related industry knows that time to grab a good domain names for resell purposes is not tomorrow, its now!
Relating to that, according to BBC, a Hosting company in UK known as NetNames told that around 31,000 domains ending up with .Asia prefix have been registered while the previous prefix's (example .eu) were more than 330,000. The .Asia domain name do cover more or less 70 countries as 60% of the world population lives within asia and with almost 400 Million internet users...this might be a very good step!
