Even after Google has created iPhone versions of almost all Google sites and services, it was interesting to know that Google has not still created a Google Talk app for iPhone and iPod Touch. After I got excited with the Twitter app for iPhone, my next goal was to find a Google Talk app for iPhone and iPod Touch but I was very sad to realize that no such app exists yet.
However this does not mean that we are out of techniques to use Google Talk on iPhone and iPod Touch.
One way to chat with your Google Talk contacts on your iPhone or iPod Touch is to use a web version of Google Talk provided by eBuddy. Note that the official web version of Google Talk provided by Google does not work on iPhone or iPod Touch as it runs on Adobe Flash which is a lacking feature in the iPhone.
Just open Safari on your iPhone and iPod Touch and visit the following link:
Tap on Google Talk Mobile and login with your credentials. You can then chat to your Google Talk contacts the way you like.
This trick has been tested by me and works not only for the iPhone or iPod Touch but for any other mobile device which does not support flash version of Google Talk.

Its just a business logic that making Gtalk available on mobiles will impact telecom carriers…Just imagine everybody having Gtalk on their mobile and everybody started talking through Gtalk…Will anybody go for telecom carrier? Thats why there is no Gtalk version for mobile.
Umm actually ashok there are at least a couple of gtalk applications for mobile devices. I’ve stumbled across them in my quest for the web app for my touch.
Blackberry’s have GTAlk on them. I use to use it on my blackberry’s, now I have an iPhone 16gig amd love it. the text messaage set up is just like chatting practically.
Interestly, could not get it to work on my ipod touch today.
I was able to get that ebuddy thingy working on my iphone. It works just fine,, although a lil slow, but it works!
Meebo (meebo.com) also supports gtalk, and they have a great iPhone UI.

Yeah, this is all fine and good, but I do miss the blackberry-style, always-on gchat. It’s an accessibility issue for me, and it was nice knowing my friends and family could pretty much always grab me on gchat right away.
do we ever expect google to release a gchat program like that for iphone?
couldn’t get it. Got an error message - a problem with the script. Perhaps its because I’m in Canada - don’t know.
I agree completely that it is business related that gtalk is not made availablto frnds..nut then frnd staying abroad g talk is the best way to connect and if we need to call someone or msg someone we will anyways do it..i donr think so that it will affect telecom industry in any way..
Google talk is now available on iphones but not as an app store app. With your iphone, browse to http://www.google.com/talk and go from there.
Apple is having a problem releasing anything with jabber capability because they use jabber for maintenance with your iphone.
