You can use this search engine to index a program’s content and to obtain instant results when you search in a particular program.

Windows Search 4.0 includes the following improvements:

  • Support for the Encrypting File System (EFS)
  • Support for indexing online delegate mailboxes
  • Support for client-to-client remote query to shared indexed locations
  • Improved indexing performance
  • Faster previewer updates for Windows XP
  • Per-user Group Policy settings
  • Windows software updates for Watson errors
  • Support for the following new enterprise Group Policy objects

Wow. A 4th update! Is it really that hard finding a document or an image? Even if it was hard or tricky or time consuming, what is the longest time takes to find a file on your computer? I never spent more than 2 minutes finding anything I wanted. Wow.

Well you can’t just say that Windows Search is totally useless. It really helps sometimes.

I like the Vista Search as it is real-time and provides faster search results. If the same Search feature could be introduced to Windows XP, it would be really great.
