I can't get adobe air to install on a redo of my eeebuntu 3.0, (Ubuntu 9.04),Asus 1000HE Netbook , Atom uP. Always worked before, now says not enoughj permissions-Tweedeck jonesing Im Root- Anybody DM oldnormanbates

Sigh. I'm still getting the stinking “An error occurred while installing” message.

Then my package manager tells me there's a broken installation and asks me to remove Adobe Air.

Well, your desktop is a folder. So if you're not in the folder “Desktop” you probably want to run “chmod +x Desktop/adobeair…”

If you can not do the simple “sudo ./AdobeAIRInstaller.bin” thing, try the following:

$ chmod 777 AdobeAIRInstaller.bin
$ ./AdobeAIRInstaller.bin

Worked for me, and remember to close your browser first.

Thanks for the quick tutorial. When I downloaded Adobe Air I had a .bin file and had no idea what to do with it. I Googled for some help and this was the first result.

Hi, Linux didn’t automatically associate .air with the installer.
Do this…

Right click on the .air file
Choose > Open with other application
Slect > Use a custom command
Navigate the filesystem > /usr/bin/Adobe AIR installer
Click > Open

The icon should change and you can now install AIR apps

You need to navigate to the same directory the .bin is located

Perhaps…

cd /home/your_home_name/Desktop
