I used to have a windows server with the planet long ago, but they started to drop the ball. Now I am with Server Intellect for under 200$. Yes I know you can find servers that are Linux for under 50$ but I wanted support and managed services. I do not want to spend my weekends fixing and updating my server when I can be enjoying life. If you are looking for a good managed Dedicated Windows Server I would suggest Server Intellect.

I paid $130 for my dedicated server last month but now as I have moved to SliceHost VPS so its much cheaper and easy to handle.

Its actually damn hard to run a managed server but ThePlanet.com has great support so they are always there to resolve most of your issues. You can also buy a server and try

Unmanaged dedicated server is of course hard to take care of. Its just like you own a machine in another country compared to you have a machine in your home.

Unmanaged is of course cheaper by $40-$50

@Shashank, unmanaged server is like you have to do everything from the janitor to boss level work (monitoring, compiling apache modules, setting up servers, dns, ftp almost everything). On the other hand managed servers have support staff that helps you with almost everything, but it depends on the hosting every hosting has a different stance regarding it.

Hey dude how much are you paying. Its kinda hard to run a Unmanaged server. Unless you have the time to monitor it 24X7 . Anyways all the best I brought DV on MT it sucks big time support is pathetic. looking to move again

Downtime for a blog or website is worst nightmare…last few days even i felt sizlopedia is opening very slow but then thought it maybe my net connecting issue. But when today i saw “Error Connecting to database” at Sizlopedia i was like some thing is wrong with Sizlopedia.

Anyway nice to hear you have moved to dedicated server but that downtime thingy making me sad…
