iPhone coming to Pakistan via Mobilink?

Mobilink, one of Pakistan's oldest GSM network services provider, has recently showcased the iPhone in one of their new TV ad commercials.

While the short ad film is not exclusively about the iPhone, the way the camera focuses around it multiple times is just way beyond usual. Some of the iPhone shots from the ad film can be seen below.

Right now its hard to believe if Apple would ever officially plan to release the iPhone in Pakistan as the target market is not too fond of touchscreen devices and some hardly even know what is 3G.

Probably, Mobilink planned to use a Jailbroken iPhone just to make their ad film more interesting and controversial however I will be confirming this through inner sources soon.

  • I wish they do but as far as i heard Sing tel signed up apple and Sing tel ows 30% share in Warid so it should be Warid bringing in iPhone but who ever brings wins big time as i really don't want to buy a locked iPhone.

    Well Guys, I don't think iPhone is competitive enough if compared to SE or Nokia. Moreover for your info iPhone just support 2G networks not have such 3G support so just drop this idea.

    Even if iPhone3G, which is again not that much good. Except for ppl who love iPod and want a Multitap Confusing cell phone may like it.

    But I dont think its a gud idea by spending that much money on an iPod Touch Screen iPhone. Which have: No 3G, No Extensible Memory, No Software Freedom, Almost Useless without WiFi or use GPRS, if Battery is expired so dispose off your iPhone with it, etc.

  • Locked iPhone...No problem man!

    If we can break into security layers of all the heavily secured utilities, OSes, tools....then whats the problem in buying a Locked iPhone...and then unlock it from any of the local mobile shop....we are master in it :D

    well here is not any 3g net in pk so we will accept GSM/900 in pakistan just through the popular net Mobilink.

    And dont worry iphone is not so far from pakistan to come.

    It would be round about 20,000 in pakistan.

    I just got a Iphone 3g from USA by my uncle.. But that shit is locked. i just try ipod in that :D.

    And iam waiting for unlocked iphone to come in pakistan..

    Hey hi to all, i really wana share sth about iphone with all of you which are like crazy runing behind iphone i got I phone 3G it sucks, and i am not comfortable with it always have swoftwer problem so plz dont spent your much money Nokia N95 8GB is the best........ got 5 miga pixel camera .... and strong software sapourt..

  • iPhone is available in Pakistan for an estimated price of around 50,000 Rupees.

    You can order it in Karachi at Vmart.
  • Well i think apple should be the product of the century. It has changed the concept of mobiles and many companies tried copying it but failed and not even one has managed to compete with it. Nokia has come up with N97 which is nice but i do not think that its better than iphone. Well i am just waiting for NOKIA AEON ( http://www.domesticutilities.com/aeon.htm ) and i think this phone might be the best phone of the future.
    Other than that apple is going to launch their TABLET PC ( http://www.domesticutilities.com/apple.htm ) next month and i think they are going to make bare money out of it as well.
