to all those who ever have this problem, it might be that you need to plug the ipod usb into the back of your computer. If you have a knock-off ipod cable and the first solution still doesnt work, then you may want to get a real ipod cable and retry. it worked for me. This is if you have error (2003)

Connect your ipod to itunes, click on the ipod in the left hand toolbar in itunes, go to summary. On the bottom, you should see a breakdown of your ipod's free space. Look up, and you will see 2 buttons. Update, and restore. Hold shift and click restore, then find the downloaded file and select it.

Voila.

Hey. Im thinking about doing this because I REALLY want to put some apps into my ipod. But, can someone tell me if this will mess up my Ipod touch in any way? Cause if there's even a 5% chance it might, I am not willing to take the risk.

Cheers.

The link below is where I downloaded the FULL firmware instead of the 3 files from rapidshare.

http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

Simply make sure you choose the correct one. (1G, 2G) if you don't you will get a firmware error

For those of you that dont know if you have 1G or 2G, the 2G has buttons on the side (volume) whereas the 1G doesn't :)

actually press the shift button the same time your press with your mouse the restore button on the summary tab of your ipod in the itunes window. then it'll open a window and you search for the file you downloaded which might be desktop or documents most likely
