Connected TV, Web Widgets for Television by Yahoo!

At a press release recently, Yahoo! and Intel both have shown interest to partner together and open a new world of entertainment by bringing Internet to TV in the form of dynamic web widgets.

Yahoo! has already invaded the Internet and next-generation mobile devices like iPhone by providing dynamic and stylish web widgets, and with the new Yahoo! Connected TV initiative it won't be long since web widgets become a common place for home TVs too.

The basic deal between Yahoo! and Intel is to bring web applications to electronic devices based on Intel Architecture by making use of Widget Channel which is a television application framework optimized for TV.

Developers will be able to use XHTML, JAVASCRIPT and FLASH technologies to write TV applications for the platform, extending the power and compatibility of PC application developer programs to TV and related consumer electronics devices.

Moreover, users will be able to interact with the widgets visually.

So now if you wonder how you can get or download widgets for your TV, Keep your fingers crossed as Yahoo! and Intel are already working hard on it and it will be made public anytime soon.
