There are many image editing and manipulating tools but most of the designers, photographers and bloggers preferred Adobe Photoshop on rest of the others. Though, GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a handy Adobe Photoshop substitute which can be used to perform image editing and manipulating job efficiently.
And as a worth, it is an Open Source software so it will not cost anything to your pocket.
The developer folks behind GIMP have released new version of application today. GIMP 2.6 includes both some of major and minor changes to the UI, tools and plugins.
The visible change in the user interface is that toolbox menubar has been removed and merged with image window menu to give you the swift access to various options. Along with this it now gives you the ability to pan beyond the image border. The free select tool has been enhanced with the support of polygonal selections. Brush dynamics is the new addition in the options family, lets you play with size, opacity, pressure and velocity of brush strokes.
