Almost a week ago, Microsoft sent out a survey to selected users to get their feedback on a new concept scenario for Windows known as "Instant On". Nesten en uke siden, sendte Microsoft ut en spørreundersøkelse til utvalgte brukere for å få tilbakemelding på et nytt konsept scenario for Windows kjent som "Instant On".

According to Microsoft, the "Instant On" concept takes your computer from being completely powered down to being usable for a few specific activities in a very short time. Ifølge Microsoft, "Instant On"-konseptet tar datamaskinen blir fullstendig slått ned for å bli brukbare for noen få spesifikke aktiviteter i en svært kort tid. The computer will transit from a completely dormant-state to being usable in just 8 seconds. Datamaskinen vil transitt fra en helt sovende-stat til å være brukbare på bare 8 sekunder.

Also you would be able to browse the web, watch DVDs, listen to music or do instant messaging but you will be not allowed to access your files or data or make any configuration changes. Også du ville være i stand til å surfe på nettet, se DVD, lytte til musikk eller gjøre chat men du skal ikke tilgang til dine filer eller data eller foreta noen endringer.

This concept is quite different from "Full Windows" as it limits what you can do and what applications you have access to. Dette konseptet er ganske forskjellig fra "full Windows" som det begrenser hva du kan gjøre og hvilke programmer du har tilgang til.

I like the fact that Microsoft is thinking out of the box and wants to introduce something totally new. Jeg liker det faktum at Microsoft har tenkt ut av esken, og ønsker å innføre noe helt nytt. As for what I believe this may not be a separate OS rather a new state for Windows as Microsoft continuously refers to as "Instant On Scenario". Som for det jeg tror dette kan ikke være et eget OS heller en ny stat for Windows som Microsoft hele tiden refererer til som "Instant On Scenario".

Probably a new state in between stand-by and hibernation for the new Windows 7. Trolig en ny stat i mellom stand-by og dvalemodus for den nye Windows 7.

  • Maybe m$ are impressed with the Asus's new OS that comes with the eee-pc's.. Kanskje M $ er imponert med Asus sin nye operativsystemet som følger med eee-pc's .. dont remember the name right now, but its based on linux and has a boot time of 8-20 seconds, and lets u browse the Internet, play mediafiles etc, and even has openoffice ! dont erindre navnet akkurat nå, men basert på linux, og har en oppstart av 8-20 sekunder, og lar u surfe på Internett, spille mediafiles etc, og selv har openoffice!
