Google gets a new Favicon, Again!

g-iconFor an average Internet user, a Favicon is not much of any importance as it is nothing more than an icon representing a website. But for bloggers, developers and the enthusiastic web community, this little icon is treated with high concerns.

Much of the 'Favicon importance' story came into play back in June when Google updated their Favicon for the first time in over ten years and shouted out to the web community to help them create an even better one.

Of all the submissions, the one visualized by André Resende from Brazil was selected as the base concept for the new Google Favicon. Below you can see and compare the current Google Favicon and the one visualized by Andre.

Google's new Favicon

I personally like the one by Andre more than the current Google Favicon but nevertheless it doesn't make quite much big of a difference.

Google promises to update the Favicon again so the fun is not over yet.

What really interests me is how Google introduces new and interactive activities time by time to engage and encourage the web community into sharing their ideas.
