Microsoft Office 14, the successor to the much successful Microsoft Office 2007 entered the official alpha testing phase earlier this month. And as you can expect with every major software solution, an alpha build essentially means at least one leak of features and screenshots.
Thanks to Ars Technica, the later has already seen daylight, as an Alpha tester from Russia posted some screen caps online. Here is a quick list of all the major applications expected as noted by Ars.
- Word 14
- Excel 14
- PowerPoint 14
- Access 14
- OneNote 14
- Project 14
- InfoPath 14
- Outlook 14
- Publisher 14
- Visio 14
There doesn't seem to be a lot of new things in Word besides a touch up on the Ribbon which looks more like a regular Office 2003 toolbar now.
The Office Button displays a totally redesigned menu, with some nice options and an about page which lets you do common maintenance tasks like updates.
After seeing Windows 7's recent trends, we are betting that the Alpha build of Office 14 would also leak out pretty soon, and when it does, we will be here to report it. And if you like to play by the rules, the official beta is expected this summer.
Be sure to head over to Ars Technica for more screenshots.
