Reshuffle the Taskbar Buttons in Windows 7

The more I keep using Windows 7, the more it amazes me with its awesome new features.

One of the excellent new features that I discovered recently in Windows 7 is the new Taskbar Reshuffle which allows a user to reorganize the Superbar workspace by changing the location of taskbar icons or buttons.

It works very much the same way like Tabs Reshuffling in Firefox and is indeed a very useful feature.

To shuffle a Taskbar button, simply click and hold on it and then drag it on either side and drop at the position where you want it to settle down. Here is how I am able to drag the 'uTorrent' button and reorganize it by dragging it over the 'Firefox' button.

It works pretty much the same way in old-style Windows 7 taskbar.

For users on Windows XP or Vista, they can make use of a third-party software named Taskbar Shuffle which would pretty do the same for them.

Unfortunately, this new feature is a part of the core in Windows 7 and cannot be experienced in earlier versions of Windows, without the use of a 3rd-party utility.

  • You see Windows can also bring some goodness to your digital life and not just Mac... :)

Cool, this has been in Gnome for years...good to know Microsoft finally implemented it. Windows 7 seems cool with features if you never used the other operating systems before.

Also, if you click on the button and drag upwards, it opens the right click menu and gives options to pin it and close it, etc.
  • Hi, saad thanks for this vista post. I was in need of this trick now i know.

    Cheers.
