In Linux I like to use KNotes (it can be installed on both Gnome and KDE).
I think KNotes is a little bit better and more intuitive than Tomboy Notes.

You may want to try another sticky notes program (nice features) called NoteZilla (http://www.conceptworld.com/NoteZilla/). However, it is not free.

I'm looking for a 'sticky note' app that has versions for Linux and XP since I use both OSes fairly evenly. I downloaded the 'Stickies for Windows' app that has a version for Linux but can't see how to modify it to point the source directory to someplace I can share between the OSes so the same stickies show up in both OSes. (I do this today with T'Bird/Lightning and Mozilla to have one Email and one set of bookmarks between both OSes).

Hi Umar!

You should also note, Vista has sticky notes that aren't attached to the Sidebar. Start > type sticky in the search bar it will pop up. I personally don't use them but it's a nice little app. Windows 7 has the same but it's integrated better. :)

Cheers,
Dan

Nice Post.

In Linux I have used Tomboy (http://projects.gnome.org/tomboy/) and Knotes (http://pim.kde.org/components/knotes.php) and both are pretty cool. There are notes addons in screenlets and gdesklets as well. Tomboy is specially feature rich. Just more options :-)
