Kaspersky official website gets Hacked

kaspersky-logoIn a recent event that took place yesterday, the official support website of Kaspersky for U.S. got hacked by a hacker who identified himself as Unu.

The news might have not been of much concern if the company in question had no direct relation to security factors but the fact that Kaspersky Labs itself is known to be a high-profile security solutions and products vendor makes this story even more interesting.

As reported, the hacker got access to the database through a SQL injection attack and may have been able to grab some information about users and their contacts. However, an official statement from Kaspersky Labs assures that no data of any sort has been leaked.

The hacker, who officially publicized the hack on Hackersblog, informs that he only planned to hack the website after he got no response from the Kaspersky Labs team to whom he reported about the vulnerability through email.

It is believed that the vulnerability might have slipped in accidently while the company's official support site was being redesigned which went live almost 10 days ago.

Kaspersky has fully acknowledged the issue and promises to take better security measures to make sure that such an incident doesn't happen again.
