Get an almost old layout for Facebook homepage

Facebook recently updated its Homepage layout to a new one which is not being liked by most of the users, and even by some of the Facebook employees themselves.

The new homepage makes Facebook look nothing like a social network, rather more of a spam-zone where random stories, notes and links are being published by your friends and unfortunately there is no way to control it. Also new changes in the UI such as deeper fonts, a three-column layout and rounded profile pictures just contribute more to the ugliness of this new layout.

While we may not help you in completely reverting back to the old layout, we still have a couple of hacks for you to get the old-style two-column layout on the homepage, along with full square-shaped profile pictures.

All you need to do is install the following two userscripts on Firefox.

Greasemonkey addon for Firefox is essentially required to run these userscripts. Once installed, these scripts will provide you with an almost old Facebook Homepage layout feel so you don't have to curse the Facebook authorities again for introducing the new design.

  • I agree this new layout has not impressed many people, but why not give this new layout a little more time and let facebook improve it further.
  • Actually I liked the New layout at first, but when stupid quiz apps, gift apps and poker apps (even some that I have not installed) started showing my friends' results, I really got pissed off :(
    I can't even Filter the feed to look at only status updates, I have to read the whole damn thing! :@
  • Author of Unfuck Script here. In my latest update I've moved notifications back to the right column where they were.
  • I think we will get used to it and for some people change is hard to adjust with. Anyway, none of us will leave facebook for a not so good layout :)
  • I am afraid to say that usability of old layout of facebook was disgustingly bad.
  • I reverted back my layout using the scripts and it looks pretty good. Thanks for the hack.
