New ‘Laptop Hunters’ Ad by Microsoft is Lame?

Ads

To be honest I am quite tired of following through the current ad war going on between Microsoft and Apple. Just when one releases an ad to let down the other, another ad pops in to do the vice versa.

Even though I haven't been actively covering the 'Laptop Hunters' ad campaign by Microsoft on this blog, I still have been able to keep an eye on it. The latest what we have in the series is called 'Lauren and Sue get a Dell XP'. See the ad below.

The ad does no different to the usual 'Laptop Hunters' lameness by Microsoft where a not-so-tech-savvy someone heads off to buy a laptop and ends up purchasing a PC instead of a Mac because of its expensiveness.

Interestingly! in each one of these ads, the Redmond company is trying to make a point again and again and it has nothing to do with the promotion of Microsoft products. The message actually being conveyed here is that Microsoft cares more about the PC vendors than the OS itself.

Right when Microsoft should be busy marketing their new upcoming Windows 7 OS, they keep reminding users that Macs are expensive which is perhaps a known fact and has its own reasons (Stability for a starter).

Now in this case I believe that Apple taking a lead in advertising as it does not hire any actors and pose them as real people who prefer PCs. Microsoft, on the other hand, is taking a lead on getting more lame with its new ad strategies.

Also don't forget to take a look at how Apple bashed Microsoft in its latest ad.

not-so-tech-savvy, I totally agree with you :) , not a programmer or a designer is included in their ads yet. Filmaker, homework, movies these are the areas they are covering. PC, itself has its importance in this world, which is obvious even without disgracing other products like Mac.
