I got 3.1.2 installed, but app that requires 3.1 and higher will not install, is this normal then what's the point of the firmware? I also did the 3.1.2 from iTunes and my apps are installed, but I do not want to use BlackRain. Anyone have a fix?

Thank you Will, for your help. Actually, I reactivated the phone this morning with redsn0w. Works like a charm.

I couldn't use iTunes because it would never get past the “you've got an unauthorized SIM chip in your phone” screen – it wouldn't give me the chance to upgrade or do anything else. But redsn0w jailbroke, activated, and unlocked my phone all at once. Works fine now. I found a guy on Youtube that walked me through the whole process. Thanks, again.

When you use the software click on the restore while holding the shift button then you can click on the firmware you want and it will allow you to use the crack, if not you need to use black rain and boot neuter your phone.

My problem is that I bought the iPhone (2g) used in the US. Now, when I plug it into iTunes, all I get is a message that the SIM chip is not correct, and that I should insert the original SIM. It doesn't give me a chance to upgrade the firmware. Any workarounds on this?

I've never had to download ultrasn0w on my iphone 2G,and it is unlocked. 3.1 out of the box 3GSs can't be jaibroken yet depending on their date of purchase,yours probably applies to this.

CRC errors when i try and download 3g version tried twice via 2 different browsers does anyone have a working MD5 so i can find out which one is causing me all the problems

hey, thanks for giving the custom firmware for Iphone 3gs. I just used the firmware to jailbreak my out of the box iphone 3gs on windows using itunes restore option. So its not true that not previously jailbroken iphones cannot be jailbroken with this.

I'm not able to decompress the firmware for the 3G after joining. Any CRC error. Maybe you have to upload them again.

I have an iPhone 2G with the previous custom firmware 3.1 from Sizlopedia and was wondering do you need to run the Ultrasnow for an already unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 2G with 3.1 or does this only apply to 3G or [S] owners? These instructions say its only for the for the iPhone 3G with 3.0 model I have the original iphone 2G (Edge model). I remember with the old one it was simply load the custom firmware and it did the rest all for you and thats it. Is the update just as easy and no hassle like the 3.1 with iPhone 2G with the new Hacktivated Firmware for iPhone OS 3.1.2? I need some clarification please before I try it.

Hi. I've recently bought an iPhone 3gs with out of the box firmware as 3.1. Please help me in unlocking the phone so that I can use it in india. I've one more question. I've bought iPhone as a gift paying the full price without contract in US. So will it work in another country on a carrier with which apple has already partnered without jailbreaking it or do I need to jailbreak it. I'll be using the phone in india with Vodafone which already sells iphone
