The HP Slate shows off Flash to make iPad look bad

It’s no surprise that HP Slate, the most-awaited slate Tablet PC unveiled by Steve Ballmer at CES 2010, would boast Flash since it runs on Windows 7.

In the video below, Adobe has demonstrated some of the capabilities of the HP Slate running Flash on the web, such as being able to play videos anywhere on the Internet and not just YouTube. Also, Flash will allow users to access other content-rich applications on the web such as magazines and casual Flash-based games. An interesting fact indicates that 80% of the top 100 websites on the web use Flash to deliver content in some way.

To Flash or not to Flash, that’s another debate for now but we certainly know that a cult out there definitely wants to see Flash in the future of mobile devices. And of course given that the iPad won’t have support for Flash on the web, HP might have just created the right competition for Apple with their Slate PC.

The video above is a recent commercial of the HP Slate, looks strikingly similar to the iPad Commercial for Oscars doesn’t it? Also we have a video preview of HP Slate running Windows 7.

But alas, the sweet taste of victory that is the ability to run Flash will soon be replaced by the bitter taste of having to deal with Windows, viruses, and the lack of touch friendly applications.
