One of my all time favorite and Capcom’s much awaited game, Street Fight IV has finally been released for iPhone and is available at the App Store for only $9.99. Most of the features offered in Street Fighter IV for iPhone is same as it was in the old arcade games. Although, you may find it difficult to play the game using the touch screen buttons.

TUAW reported:

I’ll also tell you that I got a chance to play the game, and while it is about as faithful a Street Fighter IV game as you can get on the iPhone, playing a fighting game without actual buttons is not really an ideal experience. While I was able to pull off a Hadoken and almost all of the other old moves after a few tries, the highest levels of competition in a fighting game require precision and subtlety, and this control scheme has neither of those. If you just want to play Street Fighter on an iPhone, sure — be an early adopter, pick up the game, and enjoy a few rounds of Guile vs. Ryu. But if you’re looking for the kind of in-depth fighting experience that Street Fighter IV on consoles and in the arcades offered, you probably won’t find it here — the controls are a little too inconsistent to really dig into the deep counter and powerup systems on display.

One of the best features offered in Street Fighter IV is multiplayer mode. You can play the game with your friends over Bluetooth. Other than that, it has the eight Street Fighter characters with same set of moves and combos which were present in the arcade version.

Other features of Street Fighter IV are:

  • Robust “Dojo” boot camp transforms neophytes into Street Fighter masters in five in-depth lessons.
  • Customize the controls for your style of play. Move the buttons anywhere you want on the screen and set the level of transparency.
  • Unleash super moves with a tap of the “SP” button, or toggle it off from the “Options” menu if you want to enter the button combo manually.
  • Four levels of difficulty.
  • Full move sets including Unique Attacks, Special Moves, Focus Attacks, Super Combos and Ultra Combos.

I haven’t played the game so far but the reports are disappointing. If you have installed the game, please share your experience.

  • I don't think it'll be worth it with these kinda controls...
  • I would want to agree to that.
