Well, looks like there is another surprise for all the HTC HD2 users. Microsoft made it clear at Mix10 that they will not release Windows Phone 7 Series update for HTC HD2 due to incompatible hardware specification. The reason they gave is that WP7 supported smartphone will have 3 specific buttons: search, start and back, which are not present on the HD2.
But a developer at HTCpedia has successfully ported Windows Phone 7 Series to HTC HD2, before the launch of official supported smartphones. As proof, he posted some pictures of HD2 running Windows Phone 7 operating system. The only problem he had was with the graphics driver which was not working properly causing the device to lag sometimes. Other than that, almost all of the features of the phone were working perfectly.
He said that the beta version will be released soon for those who want to port WP7 to HTC HD2. Well, now we have to wait and see what Microsoft has to say about this. Rumors suggest that the first Windows Phone 7 Series phone will be launch by the end of 2010.
