Download iPhone 4.0 beta Firmware for Non-Developers

Only recently Apple announced the availability of iPhone OS 4.0 for developers which brings a lot of new features including Multitasking and the new iAd platform.

While we believe that the firmware is not mature enough to be used by end-users, limiting it to the developers is still a bit unfair. Therefore! we are providing the links to download the iPhone 4.0 beta firmware.

It may be noted; the firmware may only be used by the user for testing-purposes as it is not meant for daily use. Also! Those who would like to keep their devices Jailbroken and Unlocked should stay away from this firmware as there is a good chance that they might not be able to restore to a previous firmware ever. The list of firmware as provided by Apple:

  • iPhone1,2_4.0_8A230m_Restore.ipsw (iPhone 3G)
  • iPhone2,1_4.0_8A230m_Restore.ipsw (iPhone 3GS)
  • iPod2,1_4.0_8A230m_Restore.ipsw (iPod Touch 2G)
  • iPod3,1_4.0_8A230m_Restore.ipsw (iPod Touch 3G)

To download the firmware for your device; follow onto this link. Only available for iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch 2G/3G. Only those with iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G would be able to take advantage of multitasking on their device.

      u have to hold the shift button and click restore find the file and click it..

    This does not work on my iphone 3g. Itunes wont let me when i click restore or update.

      you need to use a mac and make sure u have 9.2 itunes beta!

    Now that my UDID is registered, and I have downloaded the iPhone2,1 .ipsw file for my iPhone 3GS, can I restore my phone right now, from that .ipsw file??? I currently have it jailbroken with Blackra1n… Will it screw up my phone, or does this just mean that my iPhone will remain fine and will be completely fine to update to the legit iPhone OS 4.0 update when it comes out, it just means that it may not be able to jailbroken, depending on whether or not the dev team or someone else finds a crack.

    Is that correct?

    how do you restore your iphone with the file

      make sure u have 9.2 beta itunes. and then right click restore and then find the file and then it will update. usually takes about 20 mins!

    Out of the features listed,i love the ability to add folders, multitask and add wallpaper to not only the lockscreen,but the homescreen as well!

    Dear Krunal. i downloaded the OS from here for my i phone 3gs and i couldn't get it to do anything but i got it from another website and it worked, you have to search the web and i do know there are preactivated torrents. just cant find one for my 3gs/ :(
