Android Coming for HTC HD2!

Android is available on many smartphones and we have even seen it running on smartphones on which it cannot be installed, e.g. the iPhone. And now thanks to some developers, we have a news that its coming very soon for HTC HD2 as well which is quite exciting.

Developers at XDA Forums are working to bring Android to HTC HD2. Previously Touch Pro 2, a Windows Mobile handset, was seen running the Android OS and now the same hack is being ported to HTC HD2 as well.

XDA developers are working on many such experiments; recently they have been able to run a 720p video on HTC HD2 using Linux Boot Loader.

Previously we have seen Android for iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G versions and a day ago we also reported about Android for iPod Touch being in works. Now we only wait for it to be ported to other HTC smartphones, including the HTC HD2.

the hdc hd2 is a very very nice piece of kit, shipped with awful os, and/or poor integration of hardwear and software, combined with a badly thought out telephony interface…..
(last incoming number rediall for that call you couldnt answer? you’ll find that around the corner, up an alley, and down that rusty fire escape to the basement….)

Unfortunatly, my phone was a gift from a then frustrated (now iphone4 loving) friend who is a customer of another mobile phone network operator, so while it is unlocked, I would imagine a fresh windows install by my mobile phone company could possibly help with some of the many niggles listed below

havent changed yet, but keen to, unless I can get android fully operational. (I have not used android yet, but like what I saw on a friends phone recently. In hdc hd2 land, phones saving graces have been mainly down to the camera’s exceptional pics and good video clips

as a phone? apart from taking or making a call via bluetooth handsfree in the car, its consistantly the worst phone that I can remember !
No screenlock during use as a phone to take or make a call regularly causes setting changes, (i assume its my ear making selections while the phone is pressed to it)…. as can running out of battery….easily done, even with wi-fi and bluetooth off, as talktime seems to be a massive drain..

rebooting often required, often only possible with battery removal.

6 cancelations in a persistant pop up variety of attempts to access the net (whith phone settings swiched off for wi-fi!) required before some calls can be answered, glitches meaning texting often delayed until touch screen gives user a cursor, have been unable to magnify typing when sending texts,( upping font size leaves the composition windo unchanged while enlarging sent and recieved texts only) so unable to spot typos, spellchecker switched on but seemingly non existant, unable to find a EURO symbol in the on screen keyboard are all daily occurances in life with this phone

    just felt like venting!

    Happy holidays all
