Download iOS 4 Firmware for iPhone and iPod Touch

Keeping its promise, Apple has finally pushed the new iOS 4 (formerly known as iPhoneOS 4) for all the supported devices which includes the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3rd Generation, iPod Touch 2nd Generation and iPhone 3G. Unfortunately! wallpaper and background features are not supported on the later two.

iOS 4 brings over 100+ new features to the iPhone and iPod Touch, with seven tentpole features such as Multitasking, Unified inbox, Folders, iBooks, Game Center and iAd. iOS 4 will be pushed for the iPad later this year.

All you need to do is download iTunes 9.2 from the Apple website and hook in any of the supported device and click update. The update is being rolled out slowly to all users across the world.

And for those of who can't wait; direct download links for the iOS 4 for iPhone and iPod Touch have been provided below.

Once the firmware is downloaded, fire-up iTunes, hit the Update button while holding the Alt/Option button and select the file to install it on your device.

Those who rely on Ultrasn0w or Blacksn0w to enable cellular service on their unlocked devices are advised to stay away from updating or installing the firmware at all.

    you can get links straight off their servers out and I heard there was one that was up before the offical release

    That firmware does not load in redsn0w for me, I still get the same error. Have tried on both a Mac and a PC. Anyone got any ideas?

    Personally I think Apple has hackers working for them to mislead people. I can't get any straight answer in this subject about unblocking the Iphone.

      1) D/L Recboot and install.
      2) D/L Libusb and install to C:/ dir , right click on exe. and go to properties set compatibility mode to xp service pack2 and run as admin save and exit.
      3) D/L ipsw 3.1.3
      4) run itunes and sync
      5) after sync hold shift key and click restore it will prompt you to imput your ipsw
      6) let it run it will unpack and install 3.1.3 when it is finished you will get an error, dont worry
      close out of itunes with your phone still in black screen.
      7) open recboot and hit (exit recovery mode) give it a minuite once it reboots un plug it you will now have it in emergency call plug it back in and it will connect to itunes and there you go

      P.S. If you do not install Libusb the way I said it will disable all your usb ports leaveing you with no keyboard or mouse.. best use a laptop in case you mess up..

    I have a solution! I Renamed the file in ” iPhone1,2-4.0.ipsw “. And the redsnow accept the file. :) I believe redsnow doesn´t like underlines
    !?

      It does not seems to be working for 4.0.1. I have tried your method of renaming and did not work for 4.0.1 version

        I just (less than 5 minutes ago) changed all of the _ to – and it worked perfectly for me.

        It didnt work for me, I even changed the name to “iphone” with no lines or underlines. No luck! Anyone has another solution? I have a 3g with 4.0.2.

    it loads in redsnow but after jailbrake it wont go on the web or let me see phone icon , and cydia is a blank icon what do i do?

      We speak to all those who have carrier unlocked iPhones. T-Mobile does not sell iPhones.

    I have redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5, and the ipod touch 3g link.
    DOESN”T WORK!
    still says: unable to recoqnize specified IPSW.
