New Apple TV with iOS to feature Full TV rentals

Earlier, there was a lot of speculation that Apple may have plans to kill the cable TV with the iPad by offering cheap rentals for TV shows that can be download from the cloud over-the-air. The rumors have surged again but this time the device in question is the new Apple TV, not the iPad.

Apple TV has been a hobby for Apple for long but perhaps its the right time to hit the market with a new version of this device that actually behaves like a TV for the home. Many of the rumors also suggest that the new Apple TV will run on iOS 4, akin to the Google TV which runs on Android, and will have support for apps.

The new Apple TV will also feature the ability to buy and stream TV shows for $.99 each. Episodes will be watchable for 30 days after purchased and for 24 hours after watched for the first time. It will be interesting to see how Apple brings the world’s most advance touchscreen OS to the masses with this device and also compete with the Google TV meanwhile.
