Seems like the 'Follow' button is a hit. Twitter has been using this tab to allow users to keep up with others specially keeping up with the celebrities. Available or visible to limited users in the U.S, Facebook took a step in introducing a 'Subscribe to User' button, under the display image of the user. The feature is in the testing phase and would allow you to follow the real time news feed of your friends on the social network.

After you make a follow or I may say Subscribe to the certain user, your news feed will be filled with updates on stories from friends uploading pictures, status, writing on walls posts a link, etc. Many tech sites were reporting on this feature while Facebook authorities seconded and confirmed the new feature being tested out.
According to Facebook, a small percentage of users are being tested out for this feature. The feature lets you subscribe to friends and pages to receive notifications whenever any updates are made on either the status or posting a new content.
Facebook took this intelligent step after it struck them that it is highly impossible to keep a track on almost all the friends present on the list. An average user on Facebook has 130 friends and it would be surely difficult to stay-up-to-date with everyone on what's going on.
Users have been given the choice to make the follow and would be able to monitor and get updates in form of notifications. Quiet similar to what happens at Twitter, which used to the magic word 'Follow', to maintain a database of over 145 million users.
