Remember T-Mobile's G1, the first ever Android powered smartphone? Well, T-Mobile have officially announced its successor and as many of you have guessed by now, they are calling it G2.

The name might be pretty much similar to G1 but feature wise it is better than its predecessor in every possible way. Here is what the device has for you from the specs front:

  • 800 Mhz processor.
  • 3.7 inch multi-touch screen.
  • 5 MP camera with LED Flash.
  • HD quality video recording.
  • QWERTY keyboard.
  • WiFi.
  • Bluetooth.
  • 4GB internal memory with pre-installed 8GB micro SD card, with support for up to 32 GB of external memory.
  • Adobe Flash 10.1.

T-Mobile G2 is the carrier's first smartphone delivering 4G Speeds on T-Mobile’s Super-Fast HSPA+ Network. The device is a T-Mobile USA exclusive which will benefit the carrier which has more than 100 million subscribers to its name.

Unfortunately, the price and release date for handsets were not mentioned in the press release. All we know is that these essential bits of information will be unveiled in the coming weeks. But if you are an active T-Mobile customer, you will be considered eligible for pre-ordering T-Mobile which will be available in limited quantities.

I just wonder if the 800 Mhz processor aspect of the phone will go against the makers of the first Android phone or will the G1 successor do the trick for the US based carrier?
