Facebook has just launched a new web-app, to "Discover Facebook's Popular Pages" called Browser. Based on the pages you have 'liked' in the past, the visual interface would help you find more pages based on these selections, and also what's popular and what your friends 'like'.

When the Page icons are hovered over they display a Like button. Browser also shows a “Friends similar to you” leaderboard displaying with which friends you share the most most mutual Likes. The app divides pages into nine categories: Musicians, Sports, Celebrities, Movies, TV Shows, Media, Politicians, Brands and Games. You can view images representing different pages in each category, or you can view pages from all categories, which include other things like local businesses or photographer friends’ pages, for example. Pages from all categories can be view simultaneously, as well as from specific categories. Users can then Like many pages at the same time, which turns the icon to dark blue as they are not redirected to the actual page when it is Liked. Stimulating Page growth is important to Facebook. As Pages gain more Likes and show their ability to drive clicks, more businesses will choose to start Pages, and some will pay Facebook to promote them.
It seems like Facebook wants to be a platform which will connect consumers and brands alike, due to the fact that i can provide services or advertise to both. So it isn't a shock to see that Facebook is coming up with new innovations to conquer that forefront.
