The tablet which has been at the heart of rumor land uptil now has finally gone official. RIM has finally unveiled their first ever BlackBerry Tablet which according to them is Amplified BlackBerry. No it won’t be called BlackPad, as suggested by rumors. Instead the RIM folks are calling the iPad competitor BlackBerry PlayBook.

What’s missing from the above specs list? 3G support is no where to be seen. RIM intends to roll out the 3G/4G enabled models somewhere in the future. The tablet won’t be running the mobile specific BlackBerry OS 6. Instead a Tablet specific OS has been developed by QNX, Research in Motion’s latest acquisition.
BlackBerry PlayBook is scheduled to hit the US based retail stores somewhere during the first quarter of 2011. The other nations of the world will be getting their hands on the 7 inch of goodness in the second quarter of 2011. Are you impressed by PlayBook?
