Surprisingly enough, the all new MacBook air does not ship with Adobe Flash Player, which came loaded on all previous Apple hardware. Straight out of the box, the devices informs us of a missing plugin, but with no click to install option for loading Adobe Flash Player.
It feels that Steve Jobs is distancing Apple from Adobe. The controversy began when Apple first shipped the iPhone without support for Adobe's plugin. Over time, Apple has reiterated its stance against Flash in favor of HTML5 standards. Adobe Flash player has to be manually installed from Adobe's website now for the new MacBook, as Apple is not shipping the MacBook with it installed.
Other specs of the new MacBook air are:
- Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
- Nvidia GeForce 320m GPU
- Solid state storage
- 2GB DDR3 memory (expandable to 4GB)
- Instant-on capabilities
- FaceTime Camera (formerly iSight)
- 802.11n Wi-Fi
- Up to 30 days of standby battery life
