The PlayStation Phone is now a reality

We’ve been hearing rumors for quite sometime now regarding the legitimacy of the so called PlayStation Phone, it was said to run on Google’s Android OS, a 1 GHz Snapdragon process and a 5 megapixel camera with a slide out gaming keyboard. Although no solid proof was ever provided, that could make one believe in the existence of such a device.

Now, as the source reports strong evidence that the PlayStation Phone is indeed real, which is being developed by Sony Ericsson. The PlayStation Phone features 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon processor, 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB of ROM. The device also ¬†includes a multitouch touchpad, trigger buttons and microSD card support. The device is set to run on Google’s Android Gingerbread OS. However this is still a prototype and expecting a release date too soon would be a long shot.

What’s exciting about the PlayStation Phone is the anticipation that surrounds its release. Whether or not the PlayStation Phone is able to break into the niche market of hybrid gaming devices captured by the iPhone still remains to be seen.
