These are the kind of stats that will give Microsoft and Mozilla so much to think about. I have intentionally excluded Google from the worried company names for a reason that will become evident at the end of the post. But here is what you came for. Opera 11 was launched on 16th December and boy was it a day to remember as the latest iteration of Opera saw 6.7 million download in just one day.

Yes, this is the highest download any version of Opera has seen so far. Opera 10, its predecessor saw 1.7 million download each day in its first week of launch.
One factor that contributed to this impressive showing is the introduction of the auto-update feature, which informed the user about the Opera 11 availability for download. Having said that not all users received the auto-update message. So what else contributed to this amazing download count? Well, Opera advertised Opera 11′s release, including a mouth-watering ad on Reddit using bacon as a lure.
Here's why Microsoft and Mozilla should be worried:
A survey of people downloading Opera for the first time had 53% of its respondents coming from Firefox, and 43% coming from IE. And none from Chrome.
