Logitech to Stop Revue Production until Google TV Software Update

It appears that Google TV has had the worst launch a product could actually go through, as previously we have seen Viacom owned channels being blocked on Google TV and the just recent announcement by Google, telling TV makers to delay their Google TV devices as the company needed to work on the software. So acting on that very piece of advice, Logitech seems to have taken notice.

Gigabyte, the company initially given the task of building Revue units for Logitech, has been ordered to cease production of these units for the period covering December 2010 through January 2011.

It is also being said that resumption of the production of Revue will be made on conditional basis, which means that manufacturing will be restored on a significant update or a whole new version of the current Google TV software being rolled out.

Regardless of that, people still wishing to get their hands on Revue units, can get them through Logitech as shipments are currently thinning only between the manufacturer and vendor, however, considering the problems that Google TV has faced since the very start, it seems likely that even the early sales targets have not been achieved as well.
