Sun Microsystems Campus May Become New Headquarters of Facebook

Everybody knows that Facebook is the biggest social network on the planet boasting a mammoth user base of over 500 million people, however as this number mounts, the company would definitely need more employees for making sure that the social network keeps its users happy, and to fit in more employees, Facebook would need bigger office space than the 150,000 square foot space it currently has.

Less than two years ago, Facebook moved into the 150,000 square foot office space at 1601 South California Ave in Palo Alto, regardless of that, the growing number of employees would need even bigger space and rumor has it that Facebook has set its sights upon the former Sun Microsystems/Oracle campus in Menlo Park CA, just off the Bayfront Expressway at 1601 Willow Road, for its new headquarters, interestingly enough, this facility is about six miles from Facebook’s current headquarters.

Then again, with this just being a rumor, the company has not made any official announcement, however Facebook discreetly says:

We are exploring options for a long-term location to fit our growing business needs. We are in the due diligence phase on one potential site, but it would be premature to offer any specifics. We hope to have more to share in the near future once things have been finalized

Facebook had acquired a number of buildings scattered around downtown Palo Alto near University Avenue before it moved into its current headquarters on S. California Ave. Looking at the exponential growth rate of the company, it seems like this particular “one potential site” can be home to Facebook for many years to come.
