Particularly in the previous year, the market has seen a great number of consumers making the shift towards tablet devices, the interest in which was greatly fuelled by Apple’s magical tablet, the iPad. Samsung announced its own tablet device, the Galaxy Tab, back in September last year, and it has also proved to be quite a hit in the market. Verizon was the second carrier in the United States to offer the Galaxy Tab from November 11, 2010, for a price tag of $599.99, just a day after T-Mobile USA became the first one to launch the tablet in the U.S. Now, as the New Year has rolled in, Verizon has dropped a handsome $100 off the retail price of its Android-powered, branded Galaxy Tab, more details given below.

The word comes from VZW store employees that the network has reduced $100 from the price of the Galaxy Tab, which will now be priced at $499.99 from the previous $599.99, without any contractual obligations.
The good news does not end here, apart from offering the refund, buyers will also be getting a $60 movie rental voucher redeemable in either Samsung’s Media Hub or the Blockbuster Mobile app which comes preloaded on the Verizon branded Galaxy Tab. However, it should be kept in mind that in the online stores of both Samsung and Verizon, the tablet is still priced at $599.99, which means that this just might be specifically an in-store promotion.
So now you’ve heard the good news and the tablet you’ve had been dying to buy is now $100 cheaper, have you finally made up your mind to buy one?
